Drummer Aubrey Dayle formed My id in 2001 as an electric jazz unit that features song-like melodies, some world beat rhythms and virtuosic instrumentalism. My id pools on its musicians collective experiences in genres from rock, R&B and hip hop to traditional jazz... A collaboration between Vernon Reid and My id has resulted in a series of live performances and a live recording, the group’s second release, in 2008.
He began playing the accordion at age 5 and from there learned to play the piano. After completing his formal education at McGill and Manhattan School of Music in music Aubrey went on to perform in varied situations. He has toured with James 'Blood' Ulmer, Hassan Hakmoun (support act for Peter Gabriel), God Street Wine, The John Popper Band" and several other artists.

Vernon Reid grew up listening to an eclectic variety of pop music ranging from Dionne Warwick's hits to the Temptations. He has produced, recorded and performed with James Blood Ulmer's Memphis Blood Blues Band. Through his involvement with this project, he began working with Aubrey.

The Elvin Jones Jazz Machine album "Rememberance" features Michael Stuart’s composition “Kalima”. His own album, "Determinate", was nominated for a Juno Award in 1979, for Best Jazz Album of the Year.
